ACIRE

Born in Burbank, California to a Caribbean diaspora family and raised in water-bound Miami, ACIRE is a self-taught, Little Haiti-based mixed media Visual Artist and horticulturalist whose work explores the intersections of ecology, cultural memory, migration, and motherhood.

Rooted in environmental justice and community engagement, ACIRE’s practice utilizes layered textures, organic materials, and participatory installation to examine how personal and collective histories are shaped by the natural world. Drawing from coastal environments impacted by environmental degradation, the Artist responds to ocean conservation, biodiversity loss, and intergenerational survival. ACIRE’s projects incorporate found materials, textiles, and community sourced narratives, transforming fragmentation into gestures of resilience and exploration. Through both studio practice and public exhibition, ACIRE positions Art as a tool for personal investigation, celebration, and advocacy on behalf of our oceans and lands.

In early childhood, ACIRE attended the Walt Disney Elementary School, an immersive and formative environment shaped by fantasy, magical realism, and proximity to all the wonders of cartoon, animation and filmmaking. Experiencing the tangible realities behind worlds most children encounter only through television left a lasting imprint on their perception of creativity and play. This early exposure continues to inform her sensitivity to myth, materials, spectacle, and the tension between the imaginary realm and our earthly dimensions.

ARCHIVE

Getting in touch with my ancestors from afar,
From over yonder,
From the cobblestones beneath my feet.

Stones they set with their bare hands,
Laying each one with care, with knowing,
So that a path could find me…

So that I could walk it now.
